Katie Irish

Education, Apprenticeship, & Training Fund Director, United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829

Katie Irish (she/her) is the Education, Apprenticeship, and Training Director for United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829. Katie has a long history of teaching and guest lecturing both within her Local as well as colleges, including Marymount Manhattan College, Brooklyn College, City College, NYU, and the Fashion Institute of Technology. In addition, Katie partnered with Reel Works last summer to co-teach the Assistant Costume Designer intensive with HBO's The Gilded Age, in which she developed a comprehensive program and industry template that is intended to reach and mentor up-and-coming designers across the industry.

Katie is also a seasoned Costume Designer for both the stage and screen, having designed shows such as Manhunt (Apple TV+), The Americans (FX), and Hit & Run (Netflix) as well as serving as Associate Costume Designer on Broadway productions including The Seagull, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Godspell

As a long-standing member and leader of Local USA 829, Katie was inspired to take a more active role in education and ongoing professional development within the union so that all members of the Local have access to broaden, strengthen, and evolve their skills both within and beyond the union.
