IATSE Entertainment Industry Makeup Training
Reel Works and IATSE Local 798 have partnered for the IATSE Entertainment Industry Makeup Artist Training which prepares makeup professionals of all backgrounds for successful union careers in the Makeup Department for theater, film, and television productions.
This training is made possible with the support of Netflix, AMC Networks, Consortium for Workers Education, and Empire State Development (ESD)
What does it cost?
There is no fee for this program. Each trainee is paid to participate.
Who should apply?
21+ years before start of training
Must reside within NYC (Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, and the Bronx) for at least the past 6 months. Proof of residency will be required.
High school diploma or equivalent from within the 5 boroughs of NYC
Legally eligible to work in the US
We acknowledge that the media and entertainment industry can do better when it comes to access for media professionals from marginalized communities, including people of color, women, and LGBTQIA+ people. Therefore, we strongly urge those with the following identities to apply: BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), LGBTQIA+, women and non-binary people, people living with disabilities, and others with lived experience being part of marginalized communities to apply for this training.
